Product Description

The ZED-R16 is an exceptionally well fitted console with all the vital recording process parts in one pack. The preamp is the best performing one in the entire range of Allen & Heath’s and it comes fitted with an over-the-top analogue to FireWire interface together with the most extensive EQ on any mixer at this price level.
The combination of an analogue recording mixer with a FireWire soundcard, MIDI controls and ‘home-studio’ routing gives the ZED-R16 the capability for building tracks in the studio, recording live performances, mix-down, remix, etc., all via analogue circuitry quality, 4 band fully parametric, classic British EQ, out to a clear and precise digital format.
The ZED-R16 adds a creative featured set with professional construction quality to become the masterpiece of any project studio with great ideas, or bigger studios with live recording rooms. Recording studio features such as control room speaker, alternate speaker outputs, two separate artist monitor feeds, digital interface, two analogue recording outputs plus a dedicated internal condenser talkback mic, make it an exceptional recording mixer.
The internal soundcard of the ZED-R16 has 18 FireWire inputs/outputs and 16 ADAT I/O. An independent soundcard channel on each channel of the mixer allows instruments to be recorded simultaneously (pre or post EQ) and separately into the sequencer. The JetPLL professional digital audio chipset fitted in the ZED-R16 minimizes clock jitter and synchronizes the mixer with other devices.
Besides multi-track recording, The ZED-R16 permits mixing down in analogue, then recording in digital back into the computer. With the SONAR LE software this is a cinch.
As a live FOH mixer the ZED-R16 is also very flexible. In this mode, the 4 aux buses become foldback feeds and FX sends while the main XLR outputs feed the PA system, while the record feed signal may easily be designated by using the four buttons next to the faders.
